Position: Dan Pine Healing Lodge Coordinator
Starting Range: $28.23 – $32.43 (Pending Education & Experience)
Location: Healing Lodge
Report to: Wellness Centre Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Dan Pine Healing Lodge is a community focused Centre which provides healing and wellness programming (residential and otherwise) to Garden River First Nation and its catchment area. Programs are designed with the belief that healing is a part of one’s life path to meet spiritual, emotional, mental, physical needs. The coordinator – Dan Pine Healing Lodge, is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing programs to meet the community needs of various age groups, from children and youth to our elders, while considering a wide range of traditional and Western awareness and outreach programs. The coordinator – Dan Pine Healing Lodge, functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission, Beliefs and Vision of the Garden River First Nation Wellness Centre and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.
DUTIES
• Developing an annual work plan to identify and schedule Healing Lodge programming, which includes residential and outreach programs and community events;
• Developing and overseeing Cultural Awareness Programs and Community Events that are based on assessed community needs, such as:
• Traditional Ceremonies
• Traditional teachings
• Traditional medicine program and referrals
• Cross-cultural teaching/training for agencies and groups
• Monitoring trends in Indigenous issues to pro-actively develop appropriate programs to address these issues;
• Developing and overseeing Outreach and Recreational/Leisure and Social activities;
• Completing ongoing and regular assessment of programs, service utilization and outcomes, using a variety of measurement tools (i.e. participant surveys, evaluations, etc.);
• Assisting and contributing to budget development, including seeking and optimizing funding opportunities;
• Creating a framework within the existing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to support the various programs;
• Maintaining records and files of all aspects of the programs and activities in accordance with funding requirements;
• Building partnerships internally and externally;
• Participating in policy and procedure development;
• Participating in ongoing development and team activities;
• Assisting staff with program development and implementation;
• Participating in supervisory meetings, performance appraisals and self-evaluation;
• Performing other related duties as may be required and assigned;
QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary education (diploma in human services, social work, Indigenous studies or other related studies would be an asset);
• Three (3) years’ experience in a program management position with Two years’ experience supervising staff;
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) would be an asset;
• Awareness and understanding of the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA);
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing new programs;
• Knowledge and interest in health issues affecting Indigenous people;
• Demonstrated commitment to, and knowledge of, community-based health care and resources;
• Excellent facilitation, coordination, assessment and planning skills;
• Excellent knowledge of the resources and services that provide care and support for clients in the community;
• Must undergo a criminal record check prior to employment (At Applicant Expense)
